Spring in Polyrinia

I guess that the title seems a little strange on the 2nd of January but this year it's already spring in some parts of Crete. The early rain (pretty much from August and September) and fairly mild winter (so far) seem to have moved flowering forward by at least a month. Polyrinia with its South facing hill is generally quite early for flowers but I have never seen the giant fennel sprout so early. The same goes for the yellow flower (Alyssum saxatile subsp. megalocarpum). There is even an asphodel starting to flower in the picture.
