Located in the bay of Souda, Almyrida is a small resort with a lovely sandy beach and a background of green hills and mountains. Because of its increasing popularity a few slightly larger hotels have been built in recent years so it has become fairly busy during the summer season.

Size of beach: the main beach is a little over 200 m long. There is a small sandy beach further to the West as well as another 120 m long beach further to the West (rough sand).
How busy: it's a narrrow beach and there are quite a few hotels in Almyrida so the beach can get (and feel) very busy.
Winds: :Almyrida is located well inside the Souda Bay so it is well protected from wind and waves unless you get a strong North wind.

Safe for children: yes . The water is shallow and generally not many waves.

There are occasional buses from Chania but it will probably be easier to get to the village with your own car. The village also has a taxi stand.
The beach of Almyrida is lined with cafés and restaurants. The village also has a few shops.
