Kolymbari beach

Kolymbari beach

The small town of Kolymbari is located at the western end of the Bay of Chania. It has a long pebble beach that runs from the town to Tavronitis over 3 km away. The beach is generally pretty quiet with a few tamarisk trees growing along the beach offering shade. Some large hotels are being built and could possibly make the beach busier in the near future.

Type of beach: pebbles and coarse sand

Size of beach: a long beach that stretches almost 3 km from Kolymbari to Maleme.

Crowds: very quiet except right in front of the few larger hotels close to the town.

Winds: fairly well protected from west winds but can get strong north wind.

Facilities

Sunbeds and umbrellas, a few showers in the busier part of the beach

Safe for children: open to the North winds so it can have waves.

Car parking: easy parking along and near the beaches
