Weather in Crete in April

April is a drier month than March with only around 7 days of rain on average and temperatures are often comfortable enough to lie on the beach when the sun shines (a little over 8 hours a day on average).

The sea is warming up again but at 17°C most will find it too cold for comfort.

Snow is melting on the mountains (but generally still clearly visible) and the spring flowers are at their best.

The table below lists weather averages in April for 7 towns of Crete.

Note that these weather stations are located near the sea, more or less at sea level and they generally get less rain than inland locations, especially higher up. Temperatures in hills and mountain areas can be considerably cooler.

Winds: Winds are extremely dependant on the specific location at which you are so I prefered to avoid any wind averages because they will be misleading. If you want to study wind statistics for Crete please check the Advanced Wind Rose on this paper.
