Gramvousa Fortress

The Gramvousa Fortress on top of the island of Imeri Gramvousa. The land 'behind' are the island of Antikythira and Kythira, one behind the other so it looks like one landmass but they are quite far apart. Antikythira is 35km from the spot where I took the photo and Kythira 77km away. The hill on the right lit up by the sun is located on the Peloponnese 104km away. It looks like an island because the lower part of the land is hidden by the earth curvature (Flat Earthers will need to find another explanation).

Incidentally, this is the 6000th 'photo of the day'...in its 22nd year. I am honestly less and less sure if I should carry on as I get almost no feedback and support donations are trickling down to zero. Maybe in this era of images overproduction (approximately 5 to 5.3 billion photos are taken per day apparently) it's finally time to wind it down and move on to other projects. Though I must say that I am quite attached to it.
