Walking in the High Desert

Ascending the summit of Modaki in the High Desert of the White Mountains. The peaks in the background are (from left to right) Zouridia, Sternes and Bournelos. The 'desert' designation is particularly apt this year: there was so little snow last winter and rain in the spring that the mountains are almost entirely devoid of any green vegetation or flowers.
