Beehives in the mountains

Honey production is an important activity in Crete and you will often see beehives. But this spot, at around 1400m to the South of Therisso, takes it to an entirely different level: I could count almost 500 double stacked beehives What you see in the photo is probably only a third of the hives in the area. the whole mountain sice was humming with bees throughout the day.
