On the way to Gingilos

The path to the summit of Gingilos offers some stunning views into the gorge of Samaria, spectacular rock formations and much more. One of the best of the easily accessible mountain walks in west Crete.

A small advance notice: it looks like the Daily photo of Crete has become unsustainable. It’s a fair bit of work and involves quite a lot of costs as well. Monetizing websites (advertising and affiliate links) is working less and less and despite the banner (just below the text you are reading) asking to support my work with a small donation, that has pretty much dried up (only 7 donations this year).
I am sure that the interest in photos of Crete has diminished because there are so many photos around on all sorts of platforms these days, maybe too many. So maybe it is time to retire the ‘Daily photo of Crete’ after almost 20 years. It's been (and still is) great fun though.

PS - Many thanks to those of you who send me a few more donations. I really appreciate it. I won't entirely stop publishing photos on this website but I will most probably move away from a daily format. I haven't decided yet what will follow.
