Threshing circle in Polyrinia

A threshing circle or 'alonia' is always placed in a position most open to the wind so as to help with the winnowing. They have existed for as long as agriculture existed and were used until the 1960s.
This large circle was built with old (probably from the Hellenistic period) cut stones recycled from nearby buildings.
