Acer sempervirens - Cretan maples

I first noticed these trees last year. They're not easily seen until they turn golden and orange in the autumn before losing their leaves. Acer sempervirens is a common tree of the Cretan mountains. These are at the altitudinal limit (1850 m) in western Crete for these trees but their location in such a harsh environment (and cold, windswept valley) makes these three trees truly remarkable.
