Stavros

Stavros

Stavros is not a real village but more a conglomeration of houses built in the last three decades and more recently a fair number of small hotels and apartments.

Getting there

14 km from Chania. There are a few public buses to and from Chania but it is a good idea to have your own car if you want to be able to move around easily.

Atmosphere

A quiet place somewhat lacking in atmosphere.

Accommodation

Nowadays there is a fair bit of choice.

Restaurants

There are a few restaurants scattered around Stavros

Shopping

Minimal but enough to cover your basic daily needs

Nightlife

None

Beach

A very beautiful little bay (this is where the beach scenes in the movie Alexis Zorbas were filmed) as well as a longer, almost deserted sandy beach. See more about the beach here.

Additional comments

Stavros is worth considering as a base if you want a quiet holiday but it is really best to have a car.
