The White Mountains in summer - Page 1

The White Mountains (or Lefka Ori) are the largest mountain range of Crete. In winter, they are covered deep in snow which remains until May. After a brief season where they become covered in grass and mountain flowers, the vegetation dries out and they glisten white in the harsh summer light. The pictures in the following pages were taken between May and September.

This page shows photos in the area of the plateau of Omalos with the summits of Gingilos and Volakias and up towards the refuge of Kallergi and the summit of Melindaou
