The south side of the summit of Agio Pnevma (2262m)  - 5th July 2008

Another mountain photo, this time looking north towards the summit of Agio Pnevma. This was photographed in evening light from the spring of Lagou Nero which is located at around 2000m on the north side of Svourikti. So I have the summit of Svourikti in my back and look north towards the south side of Agio Pnevma. The valley at the bottom is actually where the E4 between Katsiveli and Askyfou passes and the spring of Lagou Nero - if you can find it - is a good place to replenish your water supplies with ice cold spring water.

Notice how much greener it is than many of the landscapes I photograph in the southern White Mountains. Here we are closer to the North side of the mountains (the summit of Agio Pevma is right above the district of Apokorona) and maybe the conditions are a little less harsh. My guess is less wind and (therefore) slightly slower erosion so more top soil and less scree.
