The summit of Volakias (2116m)  - 21st April 2007

Back to some photos of my trip to Volakias last week. The summit of Volakias (2116m) is located a little to the South of the better known Gingilos (1980m) and is initially accessed by the same route (up from Xyloskalo via the spring of Linoseli and the saddle above it).
From the saddle you have several options but all of them are harder than the walk to Gingilos because it is not only further and a bit higher but the ground is very rough. You can get a good idea of thesort of terrain looking at the second picture. Some of these blocks are house sized (or more) and you need to pick your way carefully.
