Weather in Crete in March

March is still a cold month in Crete but things are looking up: you get an average of 11 days with rain which also means 20 days without as well as over six hours of sun per day.

The sea is just starting to warm up again but still cold at 16°C.

The best reason to come to Crete in March would be for the great variety of flowers (including many orchids) that flower at this time of the year at low elevations.

The table below lists weather averages in March for 7 towns of Crete.

Note that these weather stations are located near the sea, more or less at sea level and they generally get less rain than inland locations, especially higher up. Temperatures in hills and mountain areas can be considerably cooler.
