The South coast of Crete

The South coast of West Crete is far less developed than the North. The mountains drop steeply into the Libyan sea, preventing any coastal road from being built and the nature is relatively undisturbed. There are a few small villages which have become popular with independent travelers. The area is also a choice area for walkers and hikers.
