The White Mountains in summer

The White Mountains (or Lefka Ori) are the largest mountain range of Crete. In winter, they are covered deep in snow which remains until May. After a brief season where they become covered in grass and mountain flowers, the vegetation dries out and they glisten white in the harsh summer light. The pictures above were taken between May and September.
