The gorge of Tripiti from the hill of Profiti Elias

Above the gorge of Tripiti

Almost as long as the gorge of Samaria, it starts at an altitude of 1700m, at the saddle of Gingilos and runs southwest towards the sea. It is a very majestic gorge, not as narrow as Samaria but with beautiful trees. You will almost never enconter another soul in it and for a good reason: the crossing is very long (8 to 10 hours) and not without difficulties.
Do not attempt to cross it without a guide, you will almost certainly get lost because what seems to be the logical route leads to impassable areas. There is water in the gorge but it is almost impossible to find it.
