| Crocuses (Crocus sieberii) are very common in the White
Mountains and flower briefly along the
edge of the melting snowfields. They
can also start flowering in the melting
snow (as in the picture above) and even
under the snow if there is an air bubble
and enough light can reach through the
snow. |
