Stavros

Stavros

Stavros is not a real village but more a conglomeration of houses built in the last two decades and more recently a fair number of small hotels and apartments.

Getting there:   14 km from Chania. A few public buses. It is really a good idea to have your own car if you want to be able to move around easily.

Atmosphere:   A quiet place somewhat lacking in atmosphere.

Accommodation:   Nowadays there is a fair bit of choice.

Restaurants:   There are only a couple of restaurants in Stavros

Shopping:   Minimal

Nightlife:   None

Beach:   A breathtakingly beautiful little bay (this is where the beach scenes in the movie Alexis Zorbas were filmed) as well as a longer, almost deserted sandy beach.

Additional comments:   Stavros is worth considering as a base but it is really best to have a car.
