Stavros is not a real village but more a conglomeration of houses built in the last three decades and more recently a fair number of small hotels and apartments.
Location of Stavros
14 km from Chania. A few public buses. It is really a good idea to have your own car if you want to be able to move around easily.
A quiet place somewhat lacking in atmosphere.
Nowadays there is a fair bit of choice.
There are only a couple of restaurants in Stavros
Minimal but enough to cover your basic daily needs
A very beautiful little bay (this is where the beach scenes in the movie Alexis Zorbas were filmed) as well as a longer, almost deserted sandy beach.
Stavros is worth considering as a base if you want a quiet holiday but it is really best to have a car.
