Finix (or Phoenix) is located in suberb wikd surroundings on the
western site of the peninsula of the same name (Loutro is on the
eastern side).
Getting there: Is
not so easy as there is no direct road: take the boat to Loutro
(from Hora Sfakion, Agia Roumeli, Sougia or Paleochora) then walk
15 minutes over the hill. You can see the ferry boat time-table here.
There is a road alternative over Anopolis and Livaniana but it
is very time-consuming especially if you do not have a 4x4.
Atmosphere: This
is the perfect place if you love quiet surroundings in a remote
place.
Accommodation: There
are only two
hotels owned by one family. See The

Restaurants: One
restaurant only but if you need more choice you can always walk
over the hill to Loutro.
Activities: Relaxing,
beautiful walks. You can also hire canoes.
Shopping: There
are a
few small shops in Loutro
Nightlife: Nightlife
here consists of listening to the sound of the sea and distant
goat bells.
Beach: The
pebble beach is small with some shade from tamarisk trees. Beautiful
clear water.
Miscellaneous: Finix
is still one of the most peaceful spots in West Crete. It can get
a little busy at weekends in the summer because it is popular
with Cretans from the North coast who come for the weekend or the
day.
