Getting there: Chania
is only 10 km away along the coastal
road. There are plenty of regular buses from
Chania.
Accommodation: Agia
Marina consists almost only hotels and apartments of all categories.
But beware, many of them can only be booked through agents.
Restaurants: Plenty
of choice to cater for the large number of visitors.
Atmosphere: Agia
Marina caters mainly for the package holiday market and lacks a Cretan
atmosphere.
The road which passes right in the center of Agia Marina is busy but the situation
has improved since the national road has been extended and is being used as a
bypass. The old part of the village located on a hill still retains some charm.
Nightlife: Good nightlife
options and even more in its neighbour Platanias which is only a
short walk away.
Beach: The
long
sandy beach is a little exposed to north winds (beware of currents
that can be strong) and has good facilities and water sports. There
are several pleasant beach bars and small tavernas with sea view.
Additional comments: If
you want easy access to other places on the north coast, a good sandy
beach and do not mind tourist resorts Agia
Marina is not a bad place to be.
Villas in Crete : Despina Villa in Agia-Marina Chania with swimming pool near the sea from €42 per night.
