Until recently Crete had a very limited choice of villas and houses available for holiday makers which made renting holiday villas a little expensive.

This changed a lot over the last few years and there are now plenty of really nice holiday villas for rent in the best areas of the island. The increasing competition has led to great prices and it is often an excellent alternative to taking holidays in a hotel, especially with a family. As many holiday houses are a little away from the tourism mainstream it is often a good idea to rent a car as well and this will provide you with complete independence during your holiday.
