Holidays in Paleochora

Paleochora

Paleochora (or Paleohora) is a large village which has been popular with tourism for a number of years, no doubt because of its beautiful beach.

Getting there:   75 km from Chania on a good road. Several buses per day. You can aso reach Paleochora by boat from other villages in the south-west of Crete.

Atmosphere:   It is a "real" village with a population of about 2000. Lively and sometimes a little too busy in the high season but it is very easy to get away from the bustle.

Accommodation:   A very wide choice of rooms, studios and self-catering apartments.

Restaurants:   Many restaurants of all kinds.

Shopping:   Plenty of shops.

Nightlife:   Some bars and a discoteque.

Beach:   Beautiful long sandy beach, a little exposed to the West wind. There are several other more protected (pebble) beaches nearby. There are more beaches further west at Konduras and Krios.

Paleochora on the web:   About Paleochora as well as Norbert Block's Paleochora-Crete a personal account.
