Kalathas, on the peninsula of Akrotiri, is not really a village
but a fairly new, quiet settlement, mainly for people who wanted
to move out of Chania. |
Getting there: 12
km from Chania with limited public transport. It is best to have
your own car.
Atmosphere: Quiet
place without much atmosphere.
Accommodation: Some
hotels, studios and apartments.
Restaurants: Only
a couple of restaurants.
Shopping: Very
limited: Kalathas only has one (good) mini-market.
Nightlife: None
Beach: Very
nice sandy beach with shallow water (great for children). It is
popular with the locals and can get busy at the weekend.
Additional comments: Some
occasional airplane noise due to the proximity of the airport.
