Getting there: Very
close to Chania with easy access on foot, by public bus, taxi and
car.
Atmosphere: Fairly quiet
but plenty of tourists in Krissi Akti.
Accommodation: Plenty
of accommodation, especially Krissi Akti but a lot of it is handled
by tour operators.
Restaurants: Only
a few but you always have Chania nearby with plenty to choose from.
Shopping: Limited
but Chania is nearby
Nightlife: You will
need to go to Chania.
Beach: Three very
nice sandy beaches. The water is shallow so it is safe for children.
One of the beaches has a play area for children. It can get crowded,
especially at the weekend because the beaches are popular with the
inhabitants of Chania.
Additional comment : The
area is growing rapidly with new hotels and studios being built all
the time but it manages to retain a fairly quiet atmosphere. It is
a good base to explore West Crete from and also nice if you have
small children because the beaches are safe.
