Getting there: Easy
road access from Chania (10 km) and from the National road. Frequent
buses from Chania.
Atmosphere: Busy with tourists
who are mainly on package tours. Lacking in Cretan atmosphere. The
road passing through the village is busy. The old part of Agia Marina
on the hill still retains some charm.
Accommodation: Plenty
of choice in all categories.
Restaurants: Many restaurants.
Shopping: Lots of
tourist shops.
Nightlife: Plenty
of nightlife and even more in Platanias which is only a few minutes
walk away.
Beach: Excellent long sandy
beach, a little exposed to north winds . Good facilities and water
sports. There is a number of beach bars and small tavernas.
Additional comments: Agia
Marina is a good place if you don't mind being in a busy tourist
resort, want a good beach and easy access to other places on the
north coast.
