Ruta chalepensis or Fringed rue is a very strong smelling perennial herbaceous shrub found in calcareous rocky places, often near ruins, from sea level up to 800 m.. It is part of the Rutacea family which also includes citrus fruits (look at the citrus like fruit in the photos). Ruta chalepensis flowers in spring.
