The leaves of the Juniperus Oxycedrus subspecies Macrocarpa
The Juniperus Oxycedrus Macrocarpa only grows in a few coastal areas of Crete and its habitat
is threatened by the development of tourism.
Because of its Greek name of kédros it is often called a cedar but this is a mistake as there are no cedar trees whatsoever in Crete.
