The south coast of western Crete is very rugged and
doesn't have a coastal road. Whilst this has probably helped to keep
tourist developments low key, it makes moving from village to village
rather difficult and this is why there is a ferry service between
the vilages of Paleochora, Sougia, Agia Roumeli, Loutro and Hora
Sfakion as well as to the island of Gavdos.
In the winter months the service is kept to a minimum and may stop for a week
or more if the weather is bad and the sea stormy. In the months of April to October
it aims at being regular, sea conditions permitting.
Ferry time-table and prices 2008
The ferry company A.N.E.NDY.K. publishes the time-table at the very last minute. They will provide the later time-tables at a later stage (this is the Greek way to do things!). Please do not email us for details of later dates, we do not have them. If you need to plan your trip now you can safely assume that there will not be big changes between the 2007 and 2008 time-tables so consult the 2007 time-table until more details become available.
