Satureja alpina (formerly called Acinos alpinus) in the White Mountains

These flowers (called Satureja alpina subsp. meridionalis) are a nice example of how high altitude vegetation (this photo was taken at about 2200m) uses rocks and crevices to grow and protect itself from the wind, dryness and cold.
