View of the Libyan sea from the White Mountains   - 27th February 2008

I have shown a few mountain photos in the past few days. Lots of snow and some of you have remarked that it could be in the Alps. A big difference is that here in Crete, when you get high enough you generally get a view of the sea.

Here for example, you can see the island of Gavdos (and the islet of Gavdopoula to the right) on the horizon in the Libyan sea.
This photo was taken on the way to Psilafi. For those of you who know the area: the saddle of Gingilos (Seli Gingilo) is in the centre of the image, right above the snow drift in the foreground. And of course the way to Gingilos would be following the slope up in the left part of the photo.
