The village of Paleochora is located on a peninsula which is visible from a ridge close to the summit of Pachnes. It appears right in the notch where two ridges meet on the skyline. You can see a detail of the photo here.
The ridge closest to us is the western slope of the gorge of Samaria, essentially following the summits of Gingilos, Volakies and Psiristra before dropping down towards Kefalas, Papoura and Agia Roumeli. The ridge behind (further away) separates the gorges of Klados and Tripiti.
You can also just see a ridge at the bottom of the picture (not the very light one - that's still part of the summit I am standing on - but the slightly darker one beyond): this ridge separates the gorges of Eligas and Samaria.
