Cows may not be worth a second look if you live in Switzerland , Britain or most northern European countries but in Crete they are quite exotic. This is not surprising in a place that gets no rain whatsoever for as long as 5 months per summer. Goats and sheep will still manage to find something to nibble on even if it means havng to climb on trees but cows? How on earth would you feed a cow in a Cretan summer?
So when I passed this cow yesterday on my way back from Falasarna (you might recognize the hill at the back, it's the beginning of the Gramvoussa peninsula and the field where the cow is grazing is located quite close to the port of Kastelli) I slammed my brakes earning a copious amount of insults from the driver of the car following me, reversed, got out and took some photos.
