Greenhouse cultivation in an olive grove
Temporary plastic tubes set in an olive grove. They are irrigated and will serve to grow early courgettes, melons or watermelons.
This is quite a new way to use land more intensively. One problem that I am seeing is that the plastic can only be used once and it seems that the growers (at least some of them) don't bother to take it away after the harvest but plough it straight back into the earth. I guess that if they do that for a few years the earth will turn into a mix of plastic. Nice thought.
