Spring flowers near Livaniana, Sfakia

 

Looking out towards the Lybian sea from the South coast of Crete. The photo was taken between the settlements of Lykos and Livaniana (near Marmara and the gorge of Aradena). If you have been there in summer you will remember the place as almost desertic (see this photo taken in September form higher up on the hill), the ground covered in rocks, the little vegetation there is almost burnt to oblivion by the fierce sun. Above is what it looked like yesterday.
