Park bench by a frozen pond, Omalos plateau

 

This is not exactly what most Crete visitors are used to see when they come in Crete but we get plenty of snow here too and ponds do freeze, especially at 1100 m. So this is what the pond in Omalos looked like yesterday.

If you are wondering about the bench, it seems that a couple of them (as well as information signs about the pond) were put there last year as part of an Action for the conservation of Mediterranean ponds in Crete.
