Carpobrotus edulis flowering on a small island

 

Often called Red Hottentot fig and native from South Africa, Carpobrotus edulis seems well at home on the small rocky island in front of Kalathas beach (Akrotiri). Amazing considering that waves often sweep right across the island in winter storms.
