Inside the church of Arkadi monastery
You can get wonderful views of the summit of Psiloritis
(with 2457m the highest point in Crete) from the monastery
of Arkadi. Unfortunately, when this photo was
taken two days ago a strong south wind
was blowing and made for a very hazy light.
The church of the monastery was built in 1587. It is two-aisled
and dedicated to the Transfiguration of the Saviour and to
the Saints Constantine and Helen.
