If you look through the photos on this web site you will
find a couple of similar shots. Well, here is one more! It
is just such a spectacular place. Standing at the top of a
650m cliff overlooking one of the most beautiful bays in Crete,
with views ranging to Paleochora and beyond (open the large
version of the picture and you'll be able to distinguish Konduras
and Cape Krios on the horizon).
I went there 4 days ago with a friend. We walked down through
the forest to the beach of Agios Pavlos and spent several
hours on the beach. Perfect weather, no wind, not too hot but
certainly warm enough to go into the sea for a swim several
times. And of course, at this time of the year, we did not
meet or see anyone all day. We walked back up the steep hill
and arrived at the top just in time for a look at the sun setting
into the sea. Yes, I know why I live in Crete.
PS - Some of you might have heard that there was a fire in
the forest just above Agios Pavlos a few weeks ago. It's not
too bad, it seems that the fire kept to the ground and only
slightly scorched some pine trees but they will
recover. So thankfully, it was no big deal.
