Sea squill (Urginea maritima) high above the gorge
of Samaria
Another precursor of autumn, the Sea Squill (Urginea Maritima)
is now in full bloom at higher altitudes and is spreading down
towards the coast. This is one of the last flowers of the year
to appear.
This photo was taken close to one of the castles located 650m
above the old village of Agia Roumeli, on the eastern ridge
of the Samria gorge.
