Root of a shrub

I was walking down a mountain when this old root lying on the ground attracted my attention. These shrubs roots always have beautiful spiralic shapes but this one was even better than usual. The top image was taken 'in situ'.
I took it home (to add to my collection of stuff lying on my terraces) and photographed it 'standing' with the sky as a background. It reminds me of a dancer or a ship's figurehead.
