Description of some walks in West Crete

There are some good books describing walks in Crete. The best are mentioned in the Books page of this site. Below are a few walks that I have described in some of my web sites. Hopefully, I will add more descriptions as time goes.
Please make sure to also take a look at the page on walking safety in Crete. You might know it all, but then again, maybe not.

• The gorge of Samaria, best known, maybe the most impressive but you'll meet lots of people
• The gorge of Aradena,  beautiful and not overrun.
• The walk to Lissos, an easy walk to a very special place.
• The gorge of Agia Irini is a nice alternative if you want to avoid the crowds of Samaria.
• Sougia to Tripiti via Profiti Elias is one of the most beautiful coastal walks in South Crete.
• Gingilos (1980m) is one of the most spectacular summits of Crete.

Additionally, if you are considering walking along the E4 (or part of it) take a look at the E4 : a long distance walk across Crete – the experience of an Englishman.
